Here are a few helpful tips in preparing for your upcoming photography session:
WHAT TO WEAR. When preparing for your photo session, its important to coordinate your clothing with others in the shoot. This doesn't mean everyone match. Choose a color tone (pastels or brights or subtle patterns) This will make the photos really pop! Don't forget your footwear as well. Old and wore tennis shoes can really ruin a great photo, unless of course, this goes along with the theme for the photos! When dressing children, allow their clothing to have some movement. This will allow me to capture some special candid moments while they are in action. If the shoot is outside, you can expect their clothing to get a little dirty as well although I will provide blankets, etc to try to minimize that. For Maternity sessions, its best to wear very neutral, simple clothing like a long, flowy skirt or dress. Bring several options with you to see what will work best with the backdrop and/or environment. In general, try to avoid clothing with large logos or photos as that can be distracting. Don't forget to iron out any wrinkles in the clothing as well as they will show up in the photo.
BRING PROPS. If you have sentimental or personal items that you would like to incorporate in the session, please bring it along. Hats, headbands, stuffed animals, baskets, instruments.... these all make great props! If you're doing a maternity shoot, bring your ultrasound photo, baby booties, etc. Don't forget your significant other... they make the best props!
GET YOUR REST. This is especially for photo sessions that involve children. I will work with you to plan your session around your child's nap and feeding schedule to have a better chance at having a happy, smiling session!
